Short attention span

Loads of time I thought it was a nasty characteristic of me. But I could jump to conclusions and say that it is something that software development teachers have in common. Craig Candera, a teacher at DevelopMentor, says it perfectly in one of his recent blog entries:

“This is really a milestone for me. Like many people in my line of work, I have a fairly short attention span - I tend to focus on something intently for a while, figure out about 80% of it, and then move on to the next thing. That's an asset when you're teaching a class or researching a new technology, but I've long been aware that “real” developers don't have the luxury of moving on once the interesting bits are finished.”

That's why I have continued work on my Killer-Blog (after the initial disappointment of the delay on ObjectSpaces had passed). To see if I can finish it. Last week I had plans to start a new project (a survey system (not a polling system, mind you) or a water polo competition data mining system). I forced myself to finish Killer-Blog first. Expect to see more of that in the coming weeks.
