Revamp your Terminal Services Client
Microsoft support has released version 6.0 of the Terminal Services Client -or- Remote Desktop Connection at their website. This version allows you to connect to Windows Vista and Windows "Longhorn" Server terminal services.
The new features include:
- Network Level Authentication
- Server authentication
- Resource redirection
- TS Gateway servers
- Terminal Services Remote Programs
and it has some visual improvements.
I thought it was worth mentioning, because mstsc.exe is one of the programs I used most.
There are separate downloads for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 in both 32- and 64-bit versions.
If you are a really heavy user of Remote Desktop connections, you should definitely check out Remote Desktops, a administrative tool from (I believe) Windows Server 2003. You can run Remote Desktops as well if you install the Administration Tools Pack for Windows Server 2003 SP1. Read this to know how you should use the whole suite.
Update: you can run Remote Desktops and the whole Administration Tools Pack on Windows XP as well. It also contains the Active Directory, WINS, DHCP and DNS MMC's.
The Terminal Services Client update is also available through Windows Update as an optional software update. Thanks, Mike.
